OCTOBER

October 29th: Annual Awards Banquet

Award winners will be contacted in early-September and a sign-up form to attend the banquet will come out in mid-September. At the banquet, award winners will be presented with their award plaque and have a few minutes to make any remarks that they wish.

SEPTEMBER

Late September: TOP GOLF Event

CJB YMG and Student Chapters from Rutgers, TCNJ and NJIT will be running a joint event at TOP GOLF in mid-September.

AUGUST

15-17th: 2025 YMLS - Reston, Virginia

Our very own Bilal Awan represented the Central Jersey YMG.

The ASCE Younger Member Leadership Symposium (YMLS) is a three-day workshop that provides civil engineers with professional skills crucial for early-career success. The symposium featured hands-on sessions on topics such as leading in the engineering field, navigating imposter syndrome, and understanding personality types. Attendees also heard from guest speakers, including Odessa Phillip, who shared her experience in growing her own engineering firm. The event placed a strong emphasis on networking, offering valuable opportunities to connect with peers and senior ASCE leaders from across the country, which helped participants build a professional network and acquire essential soft skills.

JULY

9th: Happy Hour - Asbury Ale House

CJB YMG had their happy hour at Asbury Ale House and Johnny Mac’s in Asbury Park on Wednesday, July 9th. We had a great time meeting with many different professionals and students while enjoying some drinks, apps and pizza!

MAY

16th: Site Visit Event - Newark Point No Point Bridge Replacement

-Date and time: Virtual Presentation - May 16th at 12pm | Site Visit - May 19th at 10:30am

The Central Jersey YMG ran a successful site visit at the Point-No-Point Bridge replacement project. Matt Miller, PE, Senior Project Manager from @modjeskimasters walked us around the project site and allowed us to get an up-close look at the newly constructed rail bridge, set to be completed by this October.

We had engineers from wide variety of companies; including Modjeski and Masters, Colliers Engineering, JMT, Mott Macdonald, Gannett Fleming, RVE, and more. Thank you to everyone who attended the site visit and to Matt for being a great tour guide at the project site today!


1st: New Jersey Section Awards Dinner at Forsgate Country Club

-Date and time: May 1st at 6:00pm

The Central Jersey Board attended the 49th Annual Awards Dinner at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, New Jersey. There was a great turnout of professionals, ranging from students receiving scholarships to senior engineers received awards.

The Central Jersey Branch renamed their scholarship after former ASCE member and engineer, Moustafa Gouda, PE, who sadly passed away this year. He was an incredible visionary, an excellent leader during his time at ASCE, and was a loving husband and father. We are grateful to rename this scholarship after him and continue his legacy for many years to come.

The Central Jersey Board would like to congratulate all scholarship and award winners, your hard work and dedication to the civil engineering field does not go unnoticed.


APRIL

TCNJ Resume Review - April 30th

Louis Truppa and Megan Nugent visited TCNJ to give a presentation on building the perfect resume. The two professionals sat with TCNJ engineering students after the presentation and reviewed resumes, gave feedback and commented on what to update and change. It was a great turnout!

Dave and Buster’s joint event with North Jersey Branch YMG

-Date and time: Thursday, April 17th at 5:30PM

ASCE NJB and CJB had a great time at Dave and Buster’s for the annual joint happy hour. Everyone had the opportunity to network with other professionals from across different civil disciplines and even students from NJIT.

Rutgers Resume Review

Date - April 8th

Karam Choudhary and Bilal Awan visited Rutgers to give a presentation on creating the perfect resume. The two sat with Rutgers engineering students and reviewed resumes, giving feedback and comments on what to update and change.

2025 Legislative Fly-In - Washington, D.C. - March 27-29th

YMG Board Member Bilal Awan attended the event representing the Central Jersey Branch YMG.

2025 Region 1 Spring Assembly - Burlington, Vermont - March 20-22nd

Board Members Ted Green and Zachary Marinelli represented the New Jersey Section and Central Jersey Branch at the 2025 Region 1 Spring Assembly.

February

7th: Happy Hour #1 - Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar - 6-8pm

Three YMG board members met with some professionals at Winberie’s for drinks and apps.
